Spanish Powers of Attorney

The service

Many clients contact us to request that we draft a Power of Attorney. This formal document is signed to grant specific powers to another party.

The Power of Attorney service is open to any new client and you do not need to have used GB Abogados in the past.

Who we can help

We can assist clients in all manner of circumstances, it may be that you are selling your property in Spain and need to grant Power of Attorney to a relative or friend to sign in Spain on your behalf.

You may be a beneficiary in an inheritance and requite a Power of Attorney for the probate.

Many Spanish solicitors are not able to draft a Power of Attorney for English speaking clients.

The process

The first step is to contact us to discuss your situation and requirements.

We will ask who you need to give Power of Attorney to and what you would like them to be able to do on your behalf.

This will enable us to draft the document on your behalf.

The document is drafted in Spanish with an English translation in two column format.

The Power of Attorney is provided in word for ease of signing and dating.

The faculties included within the document are tailored to your circumstances.

The Power of Attorney needs to be signed in front of a Notary.

Once this has been done, the document needs to be legalised for use abroad by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in Milton Keynes.  More information is available here.

The legalisation can be arranged by the notary or you can do so yourself.

Once the document has been legalised it can be used for its purpose in Spain.  The original will be required.

Our bi-lingual solicitors can assist with each step of obtaining a Power of Attorney. We can draft the document and also assist with identifying a local notary and arranging an appointment for the signature of the document.
